There is no 3.56+ custom firmware/jailbreak method (released anyway).
I think you can downgrade from 3.55 to 2.56, not sure why you would, but it is difficult.
If you're asking if you can update from 2.56 to 3.55, you can . I would recommend installing the original 3.55 firmware first. Just google it.

i recommend the same if you dont like muliti man you could use rogero(what i use) because of the auto param editor and the permission fixes
also i think you meant downgrade 3.56 to 3.55 and currently there is no way to do that
