Hey bud, yeah you should jailbreak the ps3 if it is 3.55fw or lower to (3.41) The only con of having a jailbroken ps3 is that you can NOT go online with it, by using your PSN id. Modded lobbies will be OFFLINE, but still are pretty fun (that is if you have 2 2nd ps3 on current firmware) No, you will not get banned from PS3 by jailbreaking your system. Hope this helped

1st of all you CANNOT access the PS3 with a CFW.
2nd no you will not get banned from PSn if you update ur
CFW to OFW. You'll Just Lose Your Ability to intall pkg, FTO , back ups ETC.
3rd if you do want to get a CFW it should be 3.55 WANINKOKO v2
or 3.55.1 REBUG.

if you update your jailbroken ps3 your homebrew and stuff will no longer work theres no way to downgrade at the moment

my recomendation on firmware is either kmeaw 3.55 or rebug 3.55.1

Where did you buy it at? Also, best bet is to buy the new one, make sure it can be jailbroken, and if it can then just put yours after you reformat in its place and just return and say that it wasn't what you wanted.

(Friend did that when he updated his and realized what he did.. )
