Try Holding the Power button, until you hear a beep after the first one, this will reset the video signal on the PS3 then just select HDMI and make sure your using the correct resolution, for example 1080p instead of 1080i or 720p.

Do u have LG Tv? cuz i had this problem before

I think the cable has removed out or the wired is damaged.

hold the button till you hear two beeps i had this problem when i set it to 1080 when my ps3 was only 720 it would work for a little while though then just drop signal

My Tv is 720p, yet it reads 1080p fine :confused: but yeah, Just return the wire, but make sure you have the original av cable for it (red white yellow cable) or it may be just the tv.

Try the hold power button fix, or try the av cables....if the av works and the hold button doesn't then your hdmi is boomed.

iv had the same problem you have to hold down the main power button on your ps3 for about 10 seconds and then release and push again
