Once i replaced the laser the new laser did infact light up, but when inserting a disk the laser would still light up but the disk would not spin at all any suggestions on what might be wrong. the ps3 is a 60gb with ofw 2.97

I bet your forgetting to checkone thing.....the new lense assembly probably doesn't come with these two things you desperately need in order to swap out any laser part... Flip your old laser over. Locate the white plastic gear guide. Also, locate the small L shaped metalwing looking flap. Do you see them? Next grab the new KEM-400AAA part and take a look and see if these two pieces are on the laser itself. If not, remove the new laser and mount them on

Ok i have checked them and the new laser does have these two parts, when a disk is inserted the laser jerks 4 times along the gold spindle while shining the beam.

is everything connected properly

also try a full sytem restore as i changed my mates lens for him 40gb ps3 and wouldnt work then i read on here to do just that

and hey presto it actually worked

give it a try just back up all your shit before u do though

its ok now, i had a spare blu ray lying around so just remarried it to the console working like a dream thanx anyway

Wow, my PS3 laser broke too, and it works fine after I bought a laser off of Ebay. I guess you just need to know what to do It's very unfortunate how easily these things brake.
