Post: Controller malfunction?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My brother and I were about to play some Black Ops, when he turned on his controller all it did was blink. I pressed the reset button on the back of the controller and tried to turn it back on but it wouldn't even do that. Granted, the controller is about three years old with constant use, but it was just working last night and today...nothing.

I have the motioninjoy program for my computer, which allows you to play games with a PS3 controller, when I have it connected to my PC, it doesn't even recognize any of the button. It only shows that the left stick is working. I used the USB cable with it plugged into the PS3, it just blinks like it's being charged but pressing the PS button on the controller doesn't turn it on. Unplugging it from the USB charger makes it stop working again, pressing the PS button doesn't work.

What could have happened in a 13 hour period that would cause a functioning controller to just stop working out of the blue? I never spilled anything on it and stored it in the same place all the time. Anybody have any ideas?

It has lost bluetooth connection with the ps3.

Get a small paper clip and get one of the long ends and on the back of the ps3 controller is a little reset controller button press it with your paper clip while the ps3 is on then connect to the ps3 wired and then un wire the controller and it should work again Smile

Would you please read first? I mean, I appreciate you trying to help, but please read. I already did what you said, and for the hell of it, tried again. Nothing. The PS button does not power on the controller.

I had the EXACTLY same problem. I found out afterwards that the battery was just really really low. Charge your controller for 24 full hours, and it WILL work after that. I just recently had the same problem. It was blinking until it was on the charger and i was like :dumb:.

OK. If you say that would work I'm willing to give it a shot. Put it on charge like 15 minutes ago and am going to leave it on for a while and see what happens. Hopefully this will remedy the situation.

I solved the problem. Traded it into Gamestop. Got 10 dollars store credit. Better than a controller that didn't work, let it be someone elses problem.

Do a barrel roll!
If that happens in future all you should have to do is plug the controller into the ps3 while it is blinking and press the PS button and it will sync it to the console you've plugged it into.
