Post: PS3 60GB Phat BluRay problems

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi all, I've just got hold of a couple of old PS3's. One of them I have fixed the yellow lights on, but the disc drive wouldn't spin. I took the drive outta the other YLOD PS3 and put the logic board from the working one on it so it matched - however both drives in the PS3 never even show the spinning circle or "BD Drive". The new drive reads and spins BD/DVD/PSX/PS2 games, but nothing shows up on XMB. Im gonna try a new ribbon cable tomorrow, but does anyone have any other suggestions, or even had or seen ths sort of problem before? Thanks.

No, I mean BD drive which is the shortened version of BluRay drive (Wiki it if you want.)

This is clearly the wrong forum for me, I am a PS3 noob but even I know that firmware has nothing to do with hardware, especially on models as old as these.

In case anyone's reading this because they suffer from the same problems its the BD Drives board - I've remarried the board to the motherboard and it works fine - so if your drives show the blue and red lasers and spin the disks fine, its more than likely a cable or your logic board - both parts are really cheap.

Mods please lock and delete this thread, and my account if you dont want another useless account on the site - I got more information in 10 seconds from PSX-Scene then I did here.
