Post: Any way to tell the firmware by the hardrive

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I recently got a broken ps3 from my friend that been offline for a long time, and i think im gonna fix it tomorrow, is there any way i can tell the firmware by taking his hard drive out and mayne putting it in my 3.72 or another way, thank you

OFC, there must be. You'r telling theres nothing in the HDD telling the firmware version? It must be. But get access to it, is another thing...

Settings -> System -> System Information -> Current Firmware.

the firmware is on the console not on the hdd you need to get it fixed to find out

yes your right i know its gotta be on there, cause when i put it in my 3.72 it said it needs to be updated, so its on there somewhere, i just wanna know how to find it

Firmware is on the nand. This has been proven multiple times. This is the reason you cant downgrade with a new hard drive. When it asks you ti update you have to put at-least the same version that is on the nand back or it wont work!
