If i sign into his account and play it works, but not on mine....We have shared things like dlc and psn games in the past and they have worked so why isn't this? :\

Its probably a PS+ trial

You need an online pass for your account i'm guessing.

i dont think its a trial because when i downloaded it there was the little red icon over the game with the price and not over the trial. Also there wasn't any online pass because its integrated i think
