Well, Capcom decided to drop the bomb today and announce that its upcoming game, Resident Evil 6, will
not be the survival horror game fans of the series wish it would be.

Masachika Kawata, a Capcom producer, claimed earlier today that the survival horror market is too small for
RE6 to thrive in. He also believes Resident Evil 6 needs to be more of an action game in order to do well. This is what
he said below.

"I think that especially for the North American market, we need to keep going in that direction, and take that a step further. And that's exactly one of the reasons that Revelations is the way it is."

"Looking at the marketing data [for survival horror games] ... the market is small, compared to the number of units Call of Duty and all those action games sell. A 'survival horror' Resident Evil doesn't seem like it'd be able to sell those kind of numbers."
In my opinion, its a damn shame that Capcom isn't willing to try and do a revamp of the series, and try to take a risk
by returning the game to its roots. I want to see another survival horror Resident Evil. Not a Resident Evil trying to be a Call of Duty.
In all honesty I love the Resident Evil series and loved RE4 & 5, but they pale in comparison to the fear that was induced from the
original games.

What do you guys think about this? Do you like the RE series the way it is? Or are you old-school and like the older games better?

Do a barrel roll!
I enjoy both the classicc RE games and the newer action style games, but still i was hoping for a scarier approach this time. Either way im going to end up buying it.

Well that sucks, at least they know the small market they have are loyal fans. How are they going to compare a FPS to this stile of games? I would love for it to be something like the old RE's were.

I completely agree. I've been searching for a terrifying game and the Dead Space series has come pretty close. However, the fear
induced as a child playing RE hasn't been surpassed yet :(

Really not their fault, they're aim is to make money and right now, fps (action games) is what gamer's like now-a-days. Although, I do agree, Resident evil 2 and 4 were my favorites and would love RE6 to be the same.

Yeah, same. Nothing compares to RE as a kid.
