Hmm there could possibly be a glitch though I'm not sure. It would be nice if Sony added that as a feature though.

Most likely just a glitch and your ps3 just showed he was offline but he was still on...

sometimes when you sign in and sign out using account management this happens, it normally fixes its self after a couple of mins.
