Knowledge is power 
got mine from Kmart. Do research by looking at what games came out at what time around what firmware. Thats how you can predict the firmware. Ex. Got mine with Black Ops. Because Black Ops & Killzone 2 came out during the 3.55 firmware. My ps3 was on 3.50, and the Kmart that I got mine from has about 7 more of them on 3.55 or lower.

Well if all you are after is bypass, you can do that on OFW using a patch blocker (EliteMossy's). If you REALLY want a JB, Ebay, local retailers, craigslist, pawn shops (ask to look @ firmware) etc. I found mine at Kmart like primetime so just look around. Stay away from Walmart and Gamestop.
