So recently I've been having the problem with my ps3, I don't think it's the YLOD because it still somewhat works. Every time I start up my PS3 it will show the normal green light for about 3 seconds, it will then beep 3 times while flashing a yellow light once, and then it will continually flash a red light. If I press the power button it will stop. If I press it again it will turn on and function like normal. It gets really annoying and sometimes even deletes my input settings, theme, and wallpaper. The ps3 is a 40gb and 4-5 years old. Why does it do this? Is it an issue with the hard drive? The thermal paste? Thanks in advance for any help.

Haxor!
That's not necessarily the YOLD symptoms. However; Black Friday's coming up, thank god. So it'd be wise to invest into another Play station (Not the newest one [For Obvious reasons] ) as some people do manage to somehow screw up the thermal paste and then in the end Have to buy another play station in the end. Good luck, though.

Man, it's getting worse. This time hitting the power button twice just led to the same thing, had to switch it off and on from the back.
Poor PS3 is in it's final days, I guess.
