God of war ascension is not a bad game or a great game, overall it feels half baked in a couple key areas.
Combat has been changed compared to past god of war games the result is an overall experience that is a downgrade.

Allow me to explain for starters the rage system in order to use some of the most powerful attacks compared to past games.
You need to have your rage meter full. What makes that super annoying is how within less than 2 hits your whole rage meter is reduced down to nothing. Meaning you need to build it up again your rage meter again before you can use some of the most powerful attacks.

I can understand if you get hit say 50 times in a row but it's first time I seen it in a game of this genre.

Add to this the fact you can't cancel your attacks mixed with much longer time to carry out these attacks. Means your rage meter can be reduced to nothing from one minor mistake. I can understand ish that happening on the higher difficulties but being present across all is a frustrating experience. Instead of adding to the depth makes certain attacks worthless. Removing tools from the player does not add depth to the game.

On top of this your element attacks take far longer compared to the first weapon to build up your rage meter.
Yea you can start to see how it half baked and just annoying.

Are some things the game does right say with quick time events it no longer press X to win. More you decide when to press it and have to dodge attacks. Result quick time events feel less forced compared to before which is lovely.
Story is also pretty good and nice little back story.

It's a great shame that these faults break the game , as a result I get the feeling it feels rushed. You can tell that online added did hurt the overall single player experience. A couple key things are missing from the single player which only the online side of things explains.
Yet to get deep into the online side of things not sure it's going to be worth it.

Lithium.
Great thread!
even though this game has it's cons, the initial game-play and storyline make up for it. God of War Ascension was a decent game, still preferred the first two :p at-least they tried this time around by implementing an online side of things, successful or not, props to them

Yea rest of the game is pretty good just a shame that combat ruins it.
Hope they ditch the online or spend more time on the single player next time.
