ok read the back of your game and it shows the types it supports thats why it changes

Are you completely sure Assassins Creed II supports 1080p? If it does then I don't know... I used to have the problem with Call of Duty 4 too... :/

All you have to do is, go to display settings, and uncheck 1080i & 720p that will force the game to run in 1080p.
Just make sure to check 720p when you play a game that only supports 720p or it will run in basic 576p.

Yeah. I think this is the only other thing you could do. If that does not work, call a Tech guy.
