ModNation Racers, LittleBigPlanet, MAG and the likes of Journey or Tokyo Jungle on the PSN Store are all names that - while not huge sellers like Uncharted - show that Sony is willing to try new things.


This will remain for the PS4, it seems, with Sony's Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida claiming in an interview in the latest issue of Edge that not all games will be targeted at FPS players.


When asked about why the importance of the PS4 reveal's first game being decidely cutesy game Knack, Yoshida said "Yeah, it was pretty intentional.


"Mark's idea was like, "What about a Crash Bandicoot for PS4?" When he suggested the concept of Knack, we were like, "Yeah, we hate to see all the PS4 games being FPS or action-adventure or very photorealistic" - youknow, big-budget blockbuster games."


Yoshida added, "We know that people like these games, but these are not the only kinds of games that people can have fun with."


We're glad to see Sony isn't losing that sense of inventiveness with the PS4 then.

Good to see that Sony still has that Sony feel to it. Wanting to invest in new ideas the results makes Sony a world leader. At times how they do it is lacking but good to see.

Good, I'm so sick of every game coming out always being a FPS. I liked FPS' back in the PS2 and Xbox days but now they are just lame. It's always the same damn thing over and over again but with better graphics each time. I like games that think outside the box. Games like Ni No Kuni, Metal Gear Solid 4, Beyond: Two Souls, Journey, Heavy Rain, the Infamous games, The Last Guardian, the Uncharted games, etc... I really want to see lots of new, creative games come out on the PS4.

i was a big fps person but as with everything over time it gets pretty old, basically same story line just different name. lately ive been playing alot of different games from the psn store. haven't bought any AAA titles since BO2 which i only got because of the zombies storyline. im looking forward to seeing what indie games are gonna be made for next gen. one game im really intrested in though is watch dogs, that game looks pretty cool.
