Earlier this week, Guerilla Games released a report on the studio's PlayStation 4 reveal demonstration, which had people playing a real-time demo of the new Killzone game. It's mostly super-technical, but there's still enough interesting stuff in there for regular folk to get something out of.

Stuff like:

While the demo ran at "only" 30fps, it was also running at 1080p. Most current-gen shooters have been lucky to be running at 720p.

Guerilla is working with Sony on its own form of anti-aliasing, code-named TMAA. I'm guessing that stands for "Too Much Anti-Aliasing".

The game is putting all that GDDR5 RAM to good use. 3GB is there JUST for the visuals.

Perhaps of most use for casual observers, though, are the comparisons between the 3D models used in Killzone 3 and those in the PS4 game.

In Killzone 3, the average character model had around 10,000 polygons. That number has jumped out to 40,000 on the PS4, resulting in much more detailed people. The same goes for environments; as you can see below, piles of rubble have a lot more...rubble in them.

As impressive as this may be in terms of raw numbers, though, I can't help but feel it also highlights the inherent dangers - and risks - in the upcoming generation of games. Sure, 40,000 vs 10,000 sounds like a big improvement, but when you look at those comparison shots (which are admittedly slightly misleading, since the KZ3 character is being shown inside the PS4 game's engine), does it matter that much to justify all-new hardware?

You can read the entire report below. Like I've said, it's very technical - it's aimed at helping other PS4 developers - but if you're into this stuff, check it out.

Things are looking good for ps4 so far, hopefully it delivers. Saying that, I remember when ps3s and xboxs first came out it was amazing. It's going to be a tough job though making a huge difference in quality, but even small improvements can go a long way to making this the better console.

I didn't like any of the killzone games, always gave me frame rate issues.. the game was just weak for me, but I will try it out again on ps4 because it is a fairly popular game and cod is getting boring. I like the fact they're adding more detail in to things, I would really like to see some nice evironments... not just characters.

All in all, good post and keep up the good work in the ps4 section.

alot of it will be fine detail, nothing will be a huge jump like scart & sd was to hd. maybe when we have 3d tvs without the glasses etc other then that its just going to get more detail into the bigger screens while keeping things clear without jaggies ..

definately the small things will and should go along way when people take the time to look into what theyre seeing on their screens then they can judge the improvements or so thats how im thinking.

Cheers ill do my best to keep it upto date with everything

I think the minimum hard drive space should be 1 TB.

oh im pretty sure majority of those games will not be as high res as that. Also they should not focus on graphics when making game but also the gameplay. Games nowadays is getting boring... Or maybe im just getting old, but i dont know, because i'm currently enjoying ps2 and ps1 games atm.

Wonder how TMAA works vs the other anti-aliasing methods. The jump in terms of poly is pretty low but was guessing it would be like that.

it will work like other aa's out, there really is only two forms of anti aliasing(i mean by how its applied not how many variants) unless you count temporal as its own since its designed for fast movements, assuming since sony made it its designed to take the least amount of time to find edges the response time to find that edge on a console is important why use someone elses method that was designed for a pc which can handle the extra rendering time 5ms vs 1ms could mean 15fps depending on whats all going on in the render , its really a smart move on their part to help game makers this time around

I'm interested to see the improvements PC games will see now that developers have more power to work with on consoles. Killzone obviously wont be one of them, but still interesting to see the improvements even if they're not huge.

Well they did announce that the ps4 would support 4k res movies and they are like 100gb each so I am guessing it will have a pretty big hdd.
