(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I personally think a 128 GB or 256 GB SSD would be better than a 500 GB HDD.
Yeah it's half or a quarter of the space but its much faster and better quality.
I still have my 80 GB fat ps3 that's 5 years old. No one needs 500 GB.
An SSD would make for faster boot ups and faster load/saves. As well as faster installs.

I mean it actually kind of surprises me they aren't doing that:(

You are right... if the HDD will be changeable i will put my 750GB SSD there... tried a 128GB SSD on the PS3 Super Slim and it was amazing fast the Installments were ~60% Faster....

Great idea, but I guess the reason they don't do it is the current prices of SSD's against HDD's. If they did it they would probably have to put the price of the console up.

Although the storage of the PS4 hasn't even officially been announced yet.

I think a 1TB hard drive standard in the PS4 is best but they make it so that people who want to can put in a SSD and get the full benefits of the SSD.

You have to remember that for most people they will buy the console and never change anything about it again (hoping their's no YLOD Yellow Light Of Death) and when the hard drive is full they will delete stuff off to make room, so SONY "should" make it so that that day is a long way off and should off a large hard drive.

I personally think they should do a 500GB version, a 1TB version, maybe a 2TB for extremes, but what i think they should do most of all is have a no hard drive or at least the minimum required to boot up, so that the people who want to put in their own custom hard drive can without having to waste money or a more expensive console cause of the hard drive, this would mean that the console could become £50 - £100 cheaper cause their isn't a hard drive.

If SONY follows this scheme they would make people happy and be able to offer a cheaper console for those that know they will put in a custom hard drive.

I've moved on from console gaming, but if I did plan to purchase the PS4, I think it would be nice to have this at least as an option.

An SSD in a gaming console isn't really needed, memory caching would be more effective.

In Flames Much?
No

SSD in a gaming console won't offer much gain.

Think that they are making a balance in PS4...500GB/1TB HDD but now you have more system memory, better processor and 2012 HDDs no 2007.
Space is NECESSARY in a gaming console, the more, the better. Not because of the music, nor videos, no that crap, just because of the quantity of games you can have at the press of a button. Like xLew said, Playstation Plus members we need more space, we can't be downloading the games all over again when we want to play them again.

Do a barrel roll!
i need all the space i can get, i have a 80G fat ps3 that i maxed the storage. I then swapped it out with a 500G HDD and that is mostly used up to. I still have that console and the new white 500G. I love the extra memory.
