Sony Computer Entertainment’s PlayStation 4 has been the talk of week since Sony concluded their E3 2013 press conference on Monday evening. On June 11, while talking to CNet in a lengthy interview, Sony’s Jack Tretton commented on consumer interest for PlayStation 4.
After showing a variety of impressive software for PS4, Sony stunned the gaming community when they announced that the PS4 would release worldwide this holiday for an incredible price of $399 for North America – additional pricing details can be found here.
Pre-orders at popular retailers including Best Buy, GameStop, and Amazon quickly flooded, with many stores filling their allocation in several hours – Amazon is accepting pre-orders of a Standard Edition PS4, currently.
While talking with CNet, Tretton commented that the console audience is stronger than it has ever been, when discussing mobile and social gaming influence on console gaming. Furthermore, Tretton stated that mobile devices introduce people to gaming and these people find their way to consoles.
"We believe that there are more consumers out there that have interest in the console initially than we'll be able to manufacture. There is a huge pool of consumers to tap into and we are excited bring PlayStation 4 to them."
The PlayStation 4 will release later this year for $399.
