The move is apparently due to the excessive demand. You can still pre-order but you’ll run the risk of not getting a console on day one. Apparently the deadline is next Monday, the 5th of August.


Ironically at this point you might be better off waiting as You must login or register to view this content. will make additional units available to the shops on launch day. If you miss the pre-order deadline then you stand a better chance of queuing up to get a unit first.

So just to clarify, can you preorder from anywhere even if it doesn't say day one edition and you're still guaranteed to get it on day one as long as it's before monday?

Dayum I bet PS4 is getting more pre orders and attention than the release of PS3.

tbh i didn't think there was a special day one edition, i think it was just a way of making money and making people preorder quick to fill up their allocated amounts, so yeah if you want it launch day i wouldn't risk not pre-ordering it now.
