i can do this on my ps3, if your tv has control for hdmi then it'll work, it'll work with home cinemas etc like turning on your ps3/4 if its all linked up and control for hdmi is on then the rest of your gaming set up will turn on to the right channels too.

i remember finding this out and getting excited as i could be that little bit more lazier in the mornings

Had this setup on my 2nd PS3 but noticed whenever I turned off the TV the PS3 would knock off too. Which was a bit annoying when it came to download content from the store.

Is this still the case or did I do something wrong?

make sure the port dose not support arc sometimes that will mess stuff up..

most of the time its hdmi 1

Yah it does that, just click shutdown after downloads then turn off and it'll do that
