The PS4 broke the record by Sony's PlayStation Portable, which sold 185,000 when it came out in 2005. The PS4 not only surpassed sales of Xbox One, which came out on November 22nd, but also PlayStation 3.

For comparison, the Xbox One sold approximately 150,000 units in the first 48 hours. The PlayStation 3 sold 165,000 units over a similar amount of time.

The release of the PS4 also shaped the sales chart.

Call of Duty: Ghosts returns to the number one spot, while FIFA 14 is relegated to second. Battlefield 4 is in at number three. The best-selling of all the PS4 exclusives was Killzone: Shadow Fall, which came in at number four, though this is skewed somewhat by it being included in launch bundles.

Further down the chart, Knack appears at 13 – just ahead of Super Mario 3D World on Wii, which debuted at 14.

Dude. The Gaybox one sold over 1 million units WORLDWIDE. The PS4 sold one million units in the US ALONE.

Yeah, the figures I've posted show just USA sales... You can see the Xbone sold 700k units in the states
