(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); If you want the WOW factor from the latest gen PS4/Xbox One, consider upgrading your TV! I was shocked at the difference.

Smart TV's with Dual Core processors, screen dimming, etc.. are substantially improved from flat screens 3 (or more) years ago.

TV's were marked down from 1000+ to ~ 550-800 over Thanksgiving weekend, so I picked up an M-Series Vizio, Panasonic STS50, and Samsung 7 series LED/LCD to have a look at 3 of the top 10 rated sets out on the market (according to cNet reviews).

The Vizio M-Series Smart TV was the best price, and good picture quality (after a 3 hour calibration). The screen shut down after 5 hours of use (defective), and the remote was next to useless unless you were 2' or closer to the TV. Took it back, and to be honest I was disappointed. For me, spending an extra $100-250 on a Panny or Samsung is justified. (Higher end Sony's are nice too, but overpriced IMO)

The Panasonic STS50 series Plasma had a jaw dropping picture. My only complaints were; it ran hot and didn't fit my TV stand. The latter is what kept it out of my living room. A very impressive set that I wish I owned!

Last up is the Samsung 7 series smart TV. The black levels were the best I've seen on an LED/LCD, but not as deep as the Panasonic Plasma. Unless they're running side by side you can't tell a huge difference, but that said, the Panny did have the edge on overall picture quality (right out of the box!).

I ended up keeping the Samsung, and have been very impressed with PS4, HDTV, Blu-Ray, and even non-HD digital picture quality. The smart applications are nice too if you're a subscriber to Netflix, Pandora, etc... The only down side to that is you need to run an optical input to get the apps to play on your HTS, otherwise you're stuck with crappy TV speakers.

Do a barrel roll!
I have a LG plasma, and a Sony Lcd, I find that it looks better on the lcd than my plasma so I find it interesting that you found a good plasma tv.
Maybe its time for me to get a new tv lol

I think Samsung is the leader in LED/LCD TV's and Panasonic owns the Plasma market.

You can't go wrong with either brand; both offer stellar picture quality.

I didn't think the Vizio was in the same league and question it's high marks. The picture quality isn't in the same conversation as the Samsung and Panasonic IMO.

For gaming I use a 32' Panosonic, I got it in 2011... Not a Smart TV (Least I don't think so o_o) But my friends do like my quality much better than their 2012 Samsung's....

Their Samsung's do look a lot nicer though. xD
