Warner Bros. has announced that Batman: Arkham Knight has been delayed until 2015. They didn't give us an estimated launch window, unfortunately.

As for why developer Rocksteady is forced to push it back, marketing manager Guy Perkins told GameSpot that they just want to make the best game possible:

"We just want to make this the best experience that we can, and that takes time. We feel that we have an absolutely awesome game in the works, and we want to make it as great as it possibly can be. We just need more time to do that. If we didn't give the team more time to do it, then we would be releasing something that we weren't happy with. We want to make sure we're absolutely nailing it 100 percent."
Perkins clarified that the team's full vision for the new Batman just wouldn't have worked on last-gen hardware, as he cited the Batmobile and character models as factors that weren't possible on the PS3 or Xbox 360. We've seen some amazingly impressive footage already and we'd have to agree that yeah, you really can't do that on the older systems. Added Perkins:

"Having these current-gen platforms [Xbox One and PS4] allows us to really flex our muscles in terms of art and animation, and we're building everything to make it look as good as it possibly can. The beauty is our engine team can now say yes to our artists; before they were always struggling with what they have available. But now it's more a case of, 'What can't we do?' and, 'Where can we push it even harder?'"

Thank God they didn't try to rush things and push for a release in 2014. This is a chance for the series to gain some serious momentum as well as a high rating from critics/gamers.
