The only problem with it is that it just doesn't show anything on the av or with hdmi in what can i do to fix this or what might be wrong with it ?

have you tried reseting the ps3 by holding down the on button on the ps3.

HOLD the power button till it turns off. and turn back on, should work:420:

When i do that it sounds different to my normal ps3 any ideas ?

Did you switch from HD to AV, if so hold the power for 5-10 seconds and when it turns off, then do it again, and if that doesn't work, and your not in recovery mode, either your ps3 is broken, tv probs, or a full brick "Un-restorable"
If it goes into the recovery mode, you have bricked console, which is easy to fix, just look around, I'll help

how do you know/put it in recovery mode ? and nah i haven't switched it from hdmi to av.

Hold the power for 5-10 seconds and when it turns off, then do it again, and you will see a menu it should have about 6 menus o it, system update, system back up, system restore, can't remember the others
