can u switch a modded dvddrive for the xbox 360 to a brand new xbox 360 and still play burned games?

because my modded xbox got the 1 red ring (hardware problems)
and i was wondering if i take out the modded dvddrive and put it in to my newwer xbox 360 will it play the burned games?
