Microsoft has confirmed that the upcoming controller free project, Kinect, will support play while sitting down.

Last month at E3 they announced that Kinect will not function while the user is seated, where as Microsoft insist that this isn't true and that Kinect can be used while the user is in a seated position.

"Kinect can be used while sitting when an experience is developed with sitting in mind," said a Microsoft rep
some examples of this can already be seen in navigating the Dashboard using Kinect, and the ESPN, Zune and Video Kinect apps.

A Microsoft rep also added that "natural for Kinect games to be designed to get you off the couch: dancing, running, dodging, bending and kicking". However, this is "only the tip of the iceberg".
