If you thought that Gears of War 3's global April 2011 release date seemed a bit overly ambitious, you were right. It looks like we won't be fighting the Locust again until later next year, as Gears 3 has fallen into an autumn release window.

So, Lancers down everyone... For now at least, as we'll be waiting about a year instead of six months for Gears of War 3's arrival. It's not a huge spanner in the cogs, but it is a bit of a disappointment nonetheless. Still, that hasn't stopped Microsoft from pimping it as "the biggest entertainment launch of 2011." Slow down, guys! Getting ahead of yourselves a bit there!

"The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the spring of 2011," Microsoft declared today in a statement. "However, we've elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season."

Gears of War 3 is now pencilled in for an autumn 2011 release, giving us time to get our wings in Gears 2, we suppose...

I was pretty bummed to hear that we're going to have to wait that long, None the less the game is going to be MUCH worth the wait!!!
