Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, has said that their goal is to do things that “millions of people can go enjoy today,” and right now the 3D technology is prohibitive because “people just don’t really have TVs in their house right now that are going to do 3-D in a way that’s going to work.” “As a corporate mandate, I don’t need to sell you a new TV,” said Spencer. “That’s not part of my business model. Other companies maybe have that part of their business model. I don’t.” While Spencer admits that the company isn’t going to ignore 3D completely, as he thinks “it is something that will play a role in entertainment,” he just finds it odd to have a bunch of people in a room “where not everybody sees the same thing … is kind of a weird disconnect to me.” “A bunch of people sitting around the living room wearing $150 glasses — I’m just not sure that’s kind of mainstream today.”

Daddy's home.
He's got a very big point. 3-D TV is new. Not many people have it, and not many people will get it. I personally can't see it taking over. I don't want to have to sit wearing glasses to watch TV. I don't want to have to buy glasses to watch someone play the Xbox. Companies are pushing 3D TV too much. It won't lift off though. Especially if people can't see it. They are doing the right thing by hanging back. Why jump on the bandwagon straight away if it's will be a flop. Not everyone can afford 3D TVs today and not many things are available to have in 3D. Why should we need to buy a £1000+ TV just to play Xbox/PS3?

MS have no gain in doing it

Simple reason why
That said the 360 can still do 3D , just devs need to support 3D. 360 is HDMI 1.3 no ?

Not as far as I know its HDMI 1.2 on the original hdmi boxes... regardless high speed hdmi can handle 3d though but 1.4 cables are necessary... idk why but they are green/blue/white/black screens of death otherwise.

Ah i see
Wonder what the max is for 1.2 then....

I was asking due to the fact the PS3 can only do 3D up to 1080i on HDMI 1.3
Only 1.4 can do 1080P

I believe 1.2 should be fine at 1080i cause I think the revision to 1.3 only involved audio solutions. I know 1.2 was the switch to high speed so I believe it should handle 1080i properly...
