That is a lie! My friend got the red ring of death and it didnt cost anything to send it to microsoft! (i am english so i dnt kno about america) and anover friend fixed it with the towel efect. I wouldnt do this as if u break, or do anything wrong wen putting it bak together and send it to microsoft... They wont fix it as u hav messed around with the system. And then u would hav to get a new 360

Yeah and the second you open it, bam, all warranties are gone, and if you don't get it fixed now, haaha your screwed, because even if you do pay microsoft the $160, they still won't repair it !!!!

Don't trust this method,

what would you rather:

spend $160 and get it fixed 100% by MICROSOFT and have a warranty

or

spend $50 and possibly get it fixed by YOURSELF, and not have a warranty, so if this method doesn't work, thats $50 wasted, plus you have to buy a new xbox

it's better to be safe than sorry

true but majority of peoples warranties will have run out buy the time the rrod appears so sending it back free isnt possible and i would rarther fix it myself then pay microsoft to give me a refurbished one they will only do the same a few months down the line.

basically to minimize your chance of getting rrod have your console vertical but on some sort of stilt (obv you can only do this if you have the space and you know it aint going to get twatted over) like bottle tops so the air can get in and having it vert stops the motherbord from flexing !! common knowledge !

But once it has been fixed... U never get rrod!

Towel affect works.. friend got 3 rings today and we tried it and 30 minutes later his xbox was back to normal.. mind you its only a temp fix
