Hi I got a broken Xbox from a friend that had E74.
I opened it up not knowing what I would have to do.
I got it all opened up and then decided to start by replacing the x-clamps and thermal compound and do the overheat trick.
before I did that though I took off both heat sinks and turned it on.
It would actually power up for a second or two before giving two red lights(overheat for obvious reasons) instead of E74.
So I thought I was golden at this point, and all I had to do is get some new thermal compound on there and bolt down the heat sinks without using the x-clamps.
I put the new thermal compound on and screwed on the heat sinks. I powered it up and I got 3 red rings...
I used the error code thread on NGU to find the hidden error which tells you what is actually happening.
the code is 0031 which says go to e13 which says "E13: Screws on heatsinks are too tight, try to loosen them and see if it works."
I did that and it still didn't work, so I put the x-clamps back on and it STILL didn't work.
I took the heat sinks off entirely and it STILL did not work.
It still says 0031 as the error but there aren't even any heatsinks on it.
So can someone please help me?
