first off im sorry if i have posted this in the wrong place . .
my xbox dont have 3 red lights or 2 red lights , ,! the thing is i can turn it on and hear everything but there is in video just a black screen only sound . .
can anyone give me some tips on how too fix this or what could be wrong with it . . thanks to anyone that can help me with this and get me back playing 360 lol
Mine kind of did the same thing, except all the hues in the picture that were supposed to be white were pink. Try hooking up an HDMI cable and see if anything changes if you have access to the cord and an HDtv(mine did it with the HDMI so I tested with a AV cable). If that doesn't work, try a different tv. If it is all still the same, then your XBOX got to hot and one of the circuit board's sodder came lose and you will have to send it in.
Now, if your xbox is in warranty than just submit the repair normally. If it is not in warranty, tell them you got the red rings first, then mention the screen thing. No matter what tell them you got the red rings, since there is something wrong with it due to overheating, they have no way to prove that it didn't have the red rings when you had it since the circuit board could have settled a right way when they turned it on. However, since they get som many a day, they won't bother messing around with one xbox anyways. This way Microsoft won't charge you for the repair. I have done this twice already so don't worry.
All they do when they get your xbox is: 1. gut it, 2. throw the guts in a "to do" pile, 3. install a "did" in your console, 4. Mail it back to you. My repairs have never taken longer than a week and half. I got the second one back in 5 days.
The reason they are doing this is because there is no lead in the sodder. When there is no lead in sodder it causes it to expand under heat and then retract when the heat is removed. This causes the circuit boards to become loose. The reason PS3 hasn't had any problems with this is because they have been making hardware products like this for a lot longer than Microsoft(usually stick to software). My roommate is an industrial engineer and had to write a report on all that.
So, you have some tips and a cause. Good luck.
no i dont use hd cables mate just the standed ones . i took the xbox to mates house there and its still doing the same thing all im geting is sound . .
If you took it to your friends house, and tried different cables, and a different T.V., then by process of elimination you know your 360 is at fault. Therefore, you will either have to get it repaired at some shop that can do it, or send it in. Read my earlier post a little more thoroughly than just what I said about the cables and you will be well on your way to gaming again. I have a hunch that it is your 360, though. Seeing as how cables don't have any moving parts, other than the switch, I doubt you have a cable problem. So look at my earlier post and you will know how to fix your dilema within a few minutes of reading it.
