In a recent report, it has been suggested that Microsoft’s Xbox Live has been hacked with user’s account details being released including their passwords. Microsoft has now given their response on the situation.

Microsoft’s Larry Hryb, otherwise known as Major Nelson, tweeted:

I am seeing concern that Xbox LIVE is compromised. So far All we’ve seen is a random list of emails. Nothing indicating a breach.

Larry then re-tweeted Stephen Toulouse’s tweet which read:

well, so far people are reporting on a random list of emails passed around the internet. Dunno the source. could be phishing.

Toulouse, Xbox LIVE Director of Policy and Enforcement, also then said:

we do take the security of our service seriously and work on an ongoing basis to improve it against evolving threats.

An Xbox Team member also said on the official forums:

This group appears to have posted a list of thousands of potential email addresses and passwords, and encouraged users to try them across various online sites like Xbox LIVE in the event one of the users happens to use the same password and email address combination. At this time we do not have any evidence Xbox LIVE has been compromised. However we take the security of our service seriously and work on an ongoing basis to improve it against evolving threats.

Not good for XBox users... :n: :O

Hopefully there will be some more information soon.

Good, now all the Xbox nubs that were taking the piss because PSN got hacked can SUCK IT!

This is merely phishing, not an actual security breach. Not that I particularly like sticking up for Microsoft, however in regards to online security they are clearly the lesser of two evils.

The Low Key OG
still the same OG, but I've been low key
Did any of you guys actually read this and do any of you know what phishing is?
This had nothing to do with xbox being breached like what happened to psn. This has to do with users potentially giving their account info away most likely on the computer through email. Probably from one of the free msp scams.

You're a bunch of ignorant fanboys who read the title and automatically assumed all of xbl was down and all details had been compromised. Actually read threads to get the full value of them.

The following 11 users say thank you to The Low Key OG for this useful post:

Cpt.Slow, Devilreapr, DiXiEnOrMoUz28, Durk, IvanTheTerrible, killa-goblin, NoMooreMercy, Reaper, ShottinG STarzz, SiCKaZiTGeTz, webzy

Reaper
The Grim Reaper
+1 to Low Key OG up above. Psn got owned with a breach. This is just phishing which when people get stuff that is to good to be true they usually go in on it and then they get hacked etc...
No big deal here as this probably happens on daily basis as people believe you can get free msp buy giving somebody your account details. :dumb:
