The only ones I know of are the AX Pros, which have a price tag a bit over my budget, does anyone know any cheaper ones that still have the same (or better) quality?

Get the Trittons AXPro. Its is truely 5.1 as it has 8 individuel speakers..... 4 in each ear cup.

wow.. those are expensive ones :p

Heard good things about the turtle beach-series, they support 5.1 and 7.1, but they are very expensive (stereo ones are cheaper, of course).
But from my experience, its good advice to invest some cash in good soundgear, the quality and durability are worth it.
Besides, they offer headsets that are functional with ps3, xbox and pc alike (one headset for all three platforms).
