Last week, at Microsoft's Spring Showcase, tons of reporters got the privilege to experience the first look at Halo 4, the Xbox 360-exclusive shooter that's releasing this Fall. The fourth game in the long-running franchise (not counting ODST and Reach), will of course feature Master Chief, the game's protagonist in a new adventure.

This will be the first Halo title NOT created by Bungie, who created the series of 360 titles roughly ten years ago. In replace of the game developing company, 343 Industries is taking over. At Microsoft's Spring Showcase, 343 Industries' Frank O'Connor and Kiki Wolfkill presented a video (you can watch above the article), and shared some information about the upcoming title. There wasn't/isn't very much information given, but it's still information that we didn't know before.

The first thing showcased in their presentation was the story's star, Master Chief himself, whose armor has been slightly modified and redesigned for the game (and if you were paying attention to E3's Halo 4, they presented his armor, but it wasn't set in stone). The first thing they ever showed us were little Master Chief figurines, and the screenshot below (click spoiler), gives us confirmation about his lighter and more flexible appearance.

Of course, the majority of the video above is just the Halo 4 team bragging about how amazing the game is going to be, however, you can in fact get a taste of the title's new multiplayer from watching it. And while the multiplayer will have a more, you could say "fictional" feel to it, the campaign/story mode will focus more on the Spartan's problems, and why they're fighting all over the place.

Unlike most shooters, the maps for the multiplayer will NOT be taken from the campaign and put into online gameplay, but they created new generic maps to allow balanced gameplay for the Xbox LIVE users. When asked about how multiplayer, balance, and MLG professional gaming, O'Connor said they're taking it rather seriously, but he didn't go into further detail about the matter.

In the multiplayer featured in the game, you as a player will be able to experience the battle with the new and improved "Spartan 4s", which is a basic Spartan juggernaut of sorts. Also in the online game, you will be able to have a plethora of customization for your character, a bit of it will be cosmetic, but there will be 'functional' customization options as well.

As for the campaign, O'Connor and Wolfkill wouldn't give out very much information. However, O'Connor did state that this will be a more "personal story", and said you shouldn't expect Master Chief to be talking to very many people all the time. They also stated many times that they have "ripped everything apart and all of the game's features had been either rebuilt from the ground up or massively overhauled".

Some of the new sound effects featured in Halo 4 were demonstrated at the presentation as Wolfkill walked around an empty multiplayer map. It's said the guns sounded "punchy and clear", while the Spartan's footsteps were loud and "metallic". Longtime Halo composer Marty O'Awesome faceonell is not in the game, but they did say there will be more information about the composer soon.

343 Industries also hinted at an upcoming announcement that will be a "crossing of the rubicon" for the Halo series. The hype on this topic is phenomenal, even though nobody knows much. However, they have us convinced that some aspects of Halo 4 will see a large amount of change to the core of the franchise.

O'Connor said this game will define Halo for the next ten years. It's hard to tell as of now, due to lack of information.
