Open Tray Error caused by the lens going too far back and staying just outside range of reading the disc it goes just before the clear disc turns to data portion of the disc. The lens moves and if i manually push it all the way forward and put it back in it works fine and reads but after it goes to the back and stops the next time i put in a disc it won't play. Anyone know what is wrong with this drive? Also is it fixable without buying replacement parts. Thanks.

You were lucky to actually have yours work after doing that, mine still doesn't.

But anyways, when you move the laser and get it back working everytime you shut your xbox off you have to eject the disk first and then turn it off. Otherwise, you'll have to open your xbox and move the laser back everytime you want to play.
