PS4 is a great gaming machine with multimedia capabilities
Xbox One is a great multimedia machine which can play games but with a lower standard of graphics than a PS4
I've tried both consoles and own one of them and I can tell you intend to enjoy your gaming experience you're better off getting a PS4. You can listen to music while playing, as well as casually watch a livestream if you feel like it in the middle of a game or are in the loading screen.

Xbox One imo, great graphics, just a easy console to use.

I could go on and on about both consoles at a technical point of view but at the end of the day you are best of going wherever your friends go. Not MASSIVE differences between the 2 and gameplay will be much more enjoyable with friends.
