"The Callisto Protocol" takes place in the year 2320 on Jupiter's moon Callisto, where a prison is located. The player takes on the role of a prisoner trying to survive against inhuman horrors and other dangers. The game is described as a spiritual successor to the "Dead Space" series, with similar gameplay mechanics such as dismemberment-based combat and puzzle-solving. The game is being developed by Striking Distance Studios, a subsidiary of Krafton Game Union, and is being led by Glen Schofield, who was the co-founder of Sledgehammer Games and the creator of the "Dead Space" series.
