if you have 3.1.3 installed on you iphone or ipod touch you need to install the 3.1.2.ipsw file

this is done by downloading the 3.1.2ipsw then open itunes
shift+click on the restore button and select the 3.1.2 file
wait for the install and jailbreak

if you chose the right one then you wouldnt have gotten the compatibility error

You obviously don't know what to do with a 3g iPod.



I had a 3g iPod and was stuck in your situation.There is a very simple solution to this.All you have to do is get your iPod in recovery mode.

How to get your iPod in recovery mode:

1.Hold down the power and home button until iPod shuts off, don't even slide the bar to turn off.Just keep holding both buttons until it shuts off.

2.DO NOT LET GO OF THE BUTTONS YET! Wait until your ipod comes back on and let go of the power button when the apple logo comes on.Keep on holding the home button.

3.If done successfully, your ipod should say connect to itunes and itunes will tell you to restore your ipod.

4.Do Shift+Restore and select your firmware.

MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THE CORRECT FIRMWARE!

DOWNLOAD THE 3.1.2 FIRMWARE FOR IPOD 2G, NOT 3G!

If everything is done correctly, you will succesfully downgrade your ipod touch 3g.

ok i have firmware 3.1.3 and i want to jailbreak it. but my question is. if i do the downgrade in firmware will it delete every thing in my itouch?

Not if you backup your ipod's files. But if you want to downgrade and you have a ipod touch 3g you have to use the ipod touch 3.1.2 firmware.
Then you shift click on restore and find the ipod touch 2g 3.1.2 firmware.BUT if you are at a lower firmware than 3.1.2 you can just update it using the same firmware(so shift click on update and find the 3.1.2 firmware)

i keep getting error 1015, and when i looked it up it says that this happens when you try to downgrade and the only solution i found is to DL the newest, which is 3.1.3, anyway to get around this?

If you had AppSync it would resync everything back on if it was on iTunes.
