This is a guide on how to get cydia up and running on your ipod, the main reasons for people to jailbreak is simple, free apps and better freedom.
First i will start with how to add sources, as the default repository wont have everything.
2nd will be how to get cracked apps to work on your ipod
3rd will be how to customize your ipod home screen
~Requirements~
a jailbroken ipod with cydia
WiFi connection
Adding new repositories
repositories are pretty much just simple web addresses for downloading your cydia apps, heres how to add one
1. first open up cydia, let it load itself and click on manage/ sources / edit / and then add
2. a text box will appear for you to enter your repository, enter this "
https://xsellize.com/cydia/" without the quotes and click add
for this tutorial i will use the xsellize repository, since it contains everything needed in it, and is i believe the best one currently out there,
3. let cydia refresh itself and then you will have added your first repositry!,
{TIP} once you have added, go to updates and check if any are needed, if so install them
Getting cracked apps to function on your ipod
This will show you how to set up you ipod so you can download and install cracked apps. in this part i will be using the xsellize repositry as the download for your applications needed. the xsellize repository is listed above.
1. get cydia loaded and go to the search tab, type in app sync and search (if nothing comes up for app sync, try mobile installation)
2. you will be presented with several app sync versions, choose the one relating to your firmware and ipod and click download and install
3.let cydia refresh itself and go to the search tab again and this time type in install0us, click on the one from the xsellize repository
4. download and install this app and then either let cydia refresh or respring, it will have a button telling you what its doing.
5. you now have everything needed to install cracked apps, but for them to work first you need to install a LEGIT app, do this by going to the normal apple app store on your ipod and finding a free app and download it, the app can be anything you want, it just has to be legit.
4. now open up install0us, it will open with its own internet browser client, but no home page is added, i suggest using one called apptrackr as it is the fastest and most popular, so in the options tab, add "
https://apptrackr.org/" as your homepage and click ok
5. go back to the browse tab and it should load up apptrackr for you as your homepage, from here you can search for apps to download
6. once you have downloaded an app, it will appear in the downloads tab, to install it, just click on it and then choose install
DONE you can now install cracked apps on your ipod
{TIP} once you have added, go to updates and check if any are needed, if so install them
Customizing Ipod/Iphone home screen
this part tells your how to add an app in cydia that allows you to customize the ipod more, such as wallpapers and themes.
1. by now you should know how to install stuff in cydia, so install an app called Winterboard in cydia, installing this will require a reboot
(for those on a tethered jailbreak, like blackra1n you must re run the jailreaking app to get you ipod to boot again)
2. once your ipod is back on and loaded again, you will have an app called Winterboard on you ipod/iphone, click to open it
3. Winterboard already has default themes installed to it, the most popular being wallpaper ( any wallpaper you choose for you lock screen will become the homescreen wallpaper too) click on you wanted themes and hit respring to activate them
4. once you ipod resprings chosen themes will be loaded and u have a customized ipod
5. more themes can be found in cydia in the themes area, downloading and installing these wil automatically put them into you winterboard app
TROUBLESHOOTING
Sad Iphone
This is a safeguard made for jailbroken ipod when the springboard crashes, in launches you ipod into safemode and disables some settings.
to get your ipod out of this, just click the heading bar (were the time is located) and choose restart,
if your springboard keeps crashing, it is because a cydia app is causing it, to solve this, simply go to cydia, find the last app you installed and remove it or reinstall it
This was made completely by me for another website that is purly for ipod/iphone. thanks if it helped, and well sticky if needed mods?
