For iPod touch 2g MC models it is also a tethered jailbreak. This tutorial is longer than some. I only would recommend using this method if redsn0w doesn't support your firmware, like iPod touch 2G mc models. This is meant for use on iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G[S] - old bootrom | New bootrom running 3.1.2, iPod Touch 2G - MB/MC running 3.1.2, iPod Touch 3G - running 3.1.2
. And make sure you have iTunes 9.2 Now lets get started.

First I will need you to download a few programs:
-Download sn0wbreeze You must login or register to view this content. | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones

-Download your type of iPod/iPhones IOS 4.0 and IOS 3.1.2

(For those who download the file as a .ZIP just change it to .IPSW)

Step 1. Okay first off extract Payload Pwner to your desktop. Then you need to run Pwner and select your device and the firmware required.

Step 2. Start up sn0wbreeze and choose expert mode. In general rememberto checkmark "Disable NOR Flash." Then build it.

Step 3. Create a folder with any name. Now extract iBooty into that folder. Now you remember the firmware sn0wbreeze created. Now turn that into a .ZIP file. You need to copy the kernelcache, Devicetree, and the iBEC into the same folder as iBooty. Then change the firmware back into a .IPSW You will need to rename the files to the following.

- iboot.payload <– Created with Payload Pwner.
- devtree.40 <– Grabbed from Custom IPSW made by sn0wbreeze.
- ibec.40 <– Created with Payload Pwner.
- bspatch.exe <– Comes with iBooty.
- iBooty.exe <– Comes with iBooty.
- kernel.40 <– Grab from Custom IPSW made by sn0wbreeze.
- sn0w.img3 <– Comes with iBooty.
- wait.img3 <– Comes with iBooty.

Step 4. Now if you haven't done so restore your iPod/iPhone to 3.1.2
(If it gives you an error message me, then scroll down to Error) Now put your device into recovery mode, if you don't know how to do this the easiest way is to turn it off, then hold the home button and plug into the computer til it gives you the connect to itunes sign. Run iBooty and Select “Prepare Device for Custom Firmware“. Run the Process and if you see the image, you can proceed! Now open iTunes and restore to the ipsw sn0wbreeze made.
**When done, your device will go into recovery mode. It won’t boot.**

Step 5. Just Re-Run iBooty and select “Boot It”. If all goes well it will boot!

ERROR. If it gives you an error message while scrolling down you will need to open notepad, with your iDevice connected, and go to file->open -> My computer->Local Disk (C)->WINDOWS->System 32->rivers->ETC. And change .TXT to all. Then select host. You will see something like this
