i say go for it thats what i used to jailbreak my iphone 4 and it worked perfectly with no problems at all

jailbreak it u get themes and other stuff that apple doesnt allow like free aps and FREE TXTing instead of paying that $30 more for unlimited stuff

i honestly wouldn't do it if ur on 4.0 with the iphone 3G because it makes the phone run very slow, i would stick with 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 jailbreak because even if u do jb on 4.0 u cant multitask or have custom background without using the ones from cydia.

I have both iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS the 3GS works fine but the 3G just runs too slow and crashes alot
