I just found a great looking iphone 3gs on ebay which has been restores and running 4.2.1....

Before I bid on the phone i just want to make sure that i can downgrade the firmware so i can jailbreak and unlock it...

You should ask the seller what baseband the phone is on before bidding so that you know whether or not you can unlock it.
