What is Whited00r? And what does it do?
Whited00r firmwares are based on 3.1.x firmware but it offers a fully modded interface to suite iOS4 one. We are not using Winterboard to achieve this result, so your device will run faster! Unfortunately this firmware can't run iOS4-only applications.

All Whited00r firmwares are jailbroken (with PwnageTool). Latest Cydia is included and fully working. You will find the whited00r.com/repo preinstalled. This fimrware also provides unlocked firmwares that include carrier unlock and hacktivation.

Whited00r firmwares included multitasking and folders. They have been developed by You must login or register to view this content.. Multitasking is optimized to run on "old" devices with limited ram amount. iPod controls on multitasking dock are working too.

Whited00r comes with the new iOS4 feature of Home Screen wallpapers. You can easly set it like in iOS4. Moreover, whited00r has the feature of dynamic wallpapers: you can use high resolution images to set Android-like wallpapers.

Whited00r unlocks all native features hidden in official Apple firmwares. Battery percentage, Multimedia Messages Service (MMS), tethering via bluetooth and via USB, Tap to Focus in camera, cellular data network fields and Emojii icons are only some examples.

Whited00r includes the best video recording application. It offers the best quality for your videos. Recording quality is better then the one offered by application on AppStore. Moreover video are automatically exported to Photo folder (so you can manage them with iPhoto)

The Safari browser offers two useful bookmarks: "Search in Page" and a "Flash video converter".

You will find other minor features that are not listened here. Whited00r is compatible with iBluenova, A2DP enabler and iBootlace for Andorid installation (dual boot)(I Haven't Tested Yet.)



1. This process is safe and tested, but you are doing this at your own risk. For this reason I suggest to backup your data. I absolutely recommend that you make a clean installation without restoring from a backup.

2. Choose and download the right firmware for your device from the Link You must login or register to view this content.
Choose the unlocked version only if you want to unlock carrier lock or you want to skip activation process.

Normal or Unlocked?
You should choose Normal release only if you can legitimately activate you device via iTunes AND you don't need carrier unlock (so you are using the original SIM card or your iPhone is factory unclocked). All other users should choose Unlocked firmwares. If you are not sure use Unlocked firmwares. Unlocked firmware need a Push-Notifications patch after the installation.Both Normal and Unlocked firmwares includes jailbreak and Cydia.

Full or Lite?
Two different Whited00r firmwares based on iOS3. Full edition includes all features (same of them can be added via our Cydia repo too), so if you want a great upgrade use this. Lite editions offer better performances since HomeScreen Wallpapers and Multitasking are not included. I Suggest installing the lite Version then from the repo download the Features you want.

With or Without MMS?
They just released v4.2. Currenlty v4.2 with MMS enabled is not available for downlaod. Please wait for it.
iPhone 2G users can choose between two kind of firmwares. I suggest using the MMS enabled release only if you really need MMS and Tethering. If you don't use these features I suggest usign the "without MMS" version since it doesn't use a patched CommCenter so you battery could last more.

Do I need Apple original firmwares?
Indeed you don't need them at all. We provide them in case you would need to restore to Apple official firmware and you can't find these firmware on the web. Remember this too: on iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1G and iPod Touch 2G you don't need saved SHSH (ECID) for downgrade. You always will be free to install all firmwares you want.

How I can extract the firmwares?
You are downloading a .zip that contains a ipsw (this is the real firmware you need to install). Some browsers and operative systems could misunderstand extensions. If you experience problems use You must login or register to view this content. browser and unzip the pack with You must login or register to view this content. (on Windows) or You must login or register to view this content. (on MacOSX). You only need to decompress the .zip and not the .ipsw My .ipsw came inside a zip folder.

3.Open iTunes on your device page. Click on RESTORE holding ALT (MacOS) or SHIFT (Windows) at the same time and select the whited00r firmware from you computer. If you get an error of some sort try this:

If you have an iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G it seems that a fast way to install a custom firmares is upgrading to 4.2.1 official by apple and installing whited00r firmware putting your device in DFU mode with iReb.

4. After installation (could take up to 15 minutes) iTunes will ask you if you want to restore backup. Please choose "Set up a new iPhone/iPod" to improve speed and avoid strange problems. Clean installation is better! If some features don't get enabled reboot your device twice and update Cydia.

5. After you get your idevice on Cydia download "WDPred" Then do whatever you want!



I suggest not to install winterboard due to the fact it slows ur idevice.

Whited00r Custom Firmware doesnt work with certain Games and Apps that are 4.0 only!

The firmware your idevice will be on after your done restoring in itunes is 3.1.3..

You can install themes on Whited00r Custom Firmware without winterboard with "WDWintersled" I'll Have a Tutorial on here eventually!

Do you know how much this increases the speed of the iPod? I have 2 old 2G iPod touches (non MC models) that I gave to my sisters and are running iOS 4.1. The only problem is that they lag horribly. Would this firmware fix that?

Yes it will.... it sped my iPod touch 2nd gen up alot... It loads apps faster, fewer freezes, Boots up in about 25 seconds (just timed it), unlocks faster, nd opens folders faster then my iPod 4th gen...

Well alright I'm going to try this out. If I like it, I'll upgrade to the iOS 4 version of whited00r when it comes out to be able to play iOS 4 only games. Thanks a lot! :y:

Just dont install winterboard.... I'll hav a tutorial tomorrow on how 2 install themes without winterboard on this thread cause winterboard slows down ur idevice... Nd since ur using an iPod 2nd gen download ireb... Put ur iPod 2 a pwned stated then shift click restore in iTunes... Look at thread for a better tutorial... + download links

Thanks I have one last question. lol Is it completely necessary to make the iPod "new" after installing the firmware, instead of restoring it from a backup after I install the whited00r firmware?

Not 100% necessary.. But I always do It!
