Im doing everything it says to do, I have tried putting it into DFU, while its off, and while its on.

Greenpois0n notices its in DFU and i click jailbreak, sometimes the green bar goes across, sometimes it doesn't.
The iphone also turns on when i click jailbreak, but nothing happens.

I jailbroke it on 4.1 (worked first time) then restored it and updated, but I don't understand why its not working this time.

if someone knows how to sort this out, or any ideas on whats wrong can you please quote me.

You aren't doing DFU correctly then. Try holding the home button until the jailbreak finishes.

Are you using a windows or a mac, sometimes the computer makes a difference, I usually use a mac, but it wasn't working so i tried it on my brothers windows. Also make sure you have the latest version of Greenpois0n or Redsn0w. Also jailbreaking from a clean restore generally helps, it is a pain, but can make a difference.

i got it to work on my new laptop, and just copied video lol
even when mine had said it was in DFU i still carried on holding home.

My jailbreak dosent worked the 1st time but i figured out was that you need (after jailbreak) make a backup of your iphone ipod touch , then RESTORE it. When it finish restoring go ahead and jailbreak (DONT RESTORE THE BACKUP YET !!!) when the jailbreak finish go to installer and install cydia, when it install cydia now you can proceed and RESTORE FROM BACKUP your iphone ipod touch. Works for me fine all the time !
