Is the hastily increasing popularity of smart phone applications going to take over as #1 in the gaming community?

Can iPhones or iPads take over the Wii, the XBox, or even the PlayStation3?

The creator of Angry Birds seems to think so.

A member of Rovio (helped create the game) spoke at a conference recently.

With the mobile games and tablet games growing, consoles are slowly "dying."

Angry Birds has been downloaded 100 million times, and the company recently announced they have raised $42 million dollars.

Here is a list of pro's and cons for the Consoles:

Pros

Cons

Played using TV's

Games cost $60

Good graphics

Hacking is common

Nearly Crystal Clean Online Connection

small but still annoying amount of lag

Lots of memory

Updates (DLC) cost money

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now here is a list of pros and cons for the Apps:

Pros

Cons

Cheap games

Small screen

Very little hacking

Okay Graphics (iPad is best with HD)

No lag (Not including online)

Not very smooth connection, weak

Updates give you more for FREE!

Not as much memory as consoles

So what do you think, do you think consoles are going down and apps will become number one? Or do you think the consoles will forever stay on top?

I'm not sure if they are dying but I love angry birds. I like apps and consoles games, they are a lot different

You kidding?! Console games are still growing, probably even at faster rate than mobile games. With the kinect/move the possibilities are endless. But the iPhone, your limited to touching, you can't really get into it. :pedo:

The fact that apps are sooo easily pirated means they can't replace console games.

For the casual gamer? Maybe. For the hardcore gamer? Absolutely not.
