go to your itunes library, and check if you can play the songs, cuz sometimes the songs are in the list but if you move the actual locations of the songs on your computer, itunes cant find them and this might be the case. so try playin the songs in ITUNES library see if they all play or atleast try like 5 different ones

In iTunes;

1) click your device name on the left hand side

2) under summary, scroll down to options

3) in options, click manually manage music and movies.

It will now be completely up to you what stays on your device. You will never have to worry about syncing again or music dissapearing from your device.
