Apple is said to be including full Twitter photo uploading capabilities in iOS 5, which will be introduced next week at Apple's WWDC on 6th June.

Now, before you say "but what about the Twitter app?" or "what about TwitPic/yFrog?", listen up. The idea is that Twitter wants to do to the photo uploading aspect of the social network what it did to the third-party app space, which is launch it's own version and make it the standard app for use. With Photos fast becoming an important part of Twitter, it's only a matter of time until Twitter Photos becomes a new service.

But what does any of this have to do with WWDC?

It is rumoured that the existing Photos.app will feature a new option in the "Sharing" menu allowing Twitter uploads.

We’ve heard from multiple sources that Twitter is likely to have a big-time partner for such a service: Apple. Specifically, we’re hearing that Apple’s new iOS 5 will come with an option to share images to Twitter baked into the OS. This would be similar to the way you can currently share videos on YouTube with one click in iOS. Obviously, a user would have to enable this feature by logging in with their Twitter credentials in iOS. There would then be a “Send to Twitter” option for pictures stored on your device.

There has also been rumours of Facebook interconnectivity also over the years, although we are yet to see this as of yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook intergration is added alongside Twitter intergration.

This isn't everything I'm excited about. You must login or register to view this content. John Gruber has a further message to add to the collection of rumours.

So close to the bigger story, but yet so far. Imagine what else the system could provide if your Twitter account was a system-level service.

Does this also mean we can expect to see more Twitter connectivity, such as tweeting the song you're listening to from iPod.app, making a tweet from Notes.app, contact syncing with Contacts.app and more? Maybe, but it'll take some work not only from Apple, but also from the engineers over at Twitter. Let's see if a beta is released to show us how much they've added this year.
