Hey guys I need some info!
So basically I just got my iPhone 4 today and I want to jailbreak (I know what its all about, I have done it before) WIll it void my warranty and insurance??
I know you guys will say that if something happens just put it into DFU mode and restore it but what if something happens that doesn't allow me to do that?
Thanks in advanced, Please quote me with your reply so I am notified

It will void your warranty but you can just restore it to the official firmware and they will never know you jailbroke it so the warranty wouldn't be void. The only way that it would void your warranty if it stops working completely or it break with the jailbreak still on the phone and they find the jailbreak otherwise you can put it in dfu mode if its just a software bug and restore.

I have jailbroken multiple iPhones and iPads and personally have never had a problem. Never "bricked" the phone or anything bad. As for your warranty, yes jail breaking does void all warranties, but if you ever had an issue am needed to take it into an apple store you could restore it back to it's un jailbroken state and they'd never know.

Yeah but thats what I am worried about, If it completely breaks and I cant restore it then I am screwed!
I've never had a problem with it completely breaking. So to keep it from completely breaking just take care of it, jailbreaking rarely bricks the phone.

If ur iDevice completely breaks then apple won't b able 2 tell it was jail broken either... I would say go for the jailbreak... 95% of bricks can b fixed anyway now... Thxs 2 iReb nd other methods..
Jailbreaking is completely undetectable after you restore to official iOS. Warranty is only void while jailbroken (since they can't tell if it's pre-jailbroken). I'd go for it, jailbroken devices are much better.
I'll probably get groaned for this, but jailbreaking decreases battery life like a bitch. I had an iPod jailbroken with like 2 apps from Cydia and I would play 2 minutes of glow hockey and be down to 35%. If all you do is check updates then it's worth it. But if you use it for long road trips I'd think again. Just my experience, I have heard stories where jailbreaking doesn't affect battery life at all, however for others it does. Make sure to create a restore point for it on iTunes. And use Redsn0w, it is by far the best, I used Greenpoison, didn't like it. Thats where the battery problems came in and slowed my iPod down like a bitch.

Again, just my experience.
Jailbreaking has an absolute minimal hit on battery life. I've jailbroken over 200 times for people and never once had anyone complain of bad battery life after jailbreaking. Some builds of iOS have bugs that cause them to display the wrong battery level, then Apple fixes it and increases battery life.
Jailbreaking shouldn't affect battery life in the slightest :y:
