Basically a broken home or power button is a pain in the ass these days especially when your not jailbroken…..
But today i am going to help you all jailbreak you broken iDevices what we are going to do is put a custom ipsw file on our iDevices which will force DFU mode. When our devices are on DFU mode we can then jailbreak via Sn0wbreeze.

For this Tutorial please make sure you have basic knowledge of restoring your idevice.

Here are the Official Firmwares please download this aswell as the custom ones i have pre-made.

You must login or register to view this content.

Here are the pre-made ones (DFU MODE FILES)
4.2.1- iPhone 3g
You must login or register to view this content.

BEFORE YOU CARRY ON BACK UP YOUR IDEVICE
Once you download the specific file for your firmware go into itunes and plug in your iDevice click on you device in itunes and then hold shift and click restore. Now find the file that you recently downloaded and your iphone will restore (THE DFU FILES).
When the iphone is finished you will have a black screen on your iphone.
Now run Sn0wbreeze and create your ipsw file with the first file you downloaded (NOT THE SECOND CUSTOM DFU MODE ONE)
Now once you have created the Jailbroken firmware you will find it on your desktop.
Exit Sn0wbreeze and iReb will run. It will ask for you to put your iDevice in DFU mode but don't worry it will skip this step because the pre-made files you restored your device to puts your iDevice into DFU mode.
Finish the steps but now your iPhone screen will be green.
Now restore your iDevice to the Jailbroken firmware and put back on your data.

Go into Cydia and download Activator
Go into the settings app on your iPhone go to Activator>Anywhere>Status bar-Double tap>Home Button

Now overtime you double tap the clock on the status bar you will be taken back to the status bar.

Congratulations you now have a Home Button!!

This tutorial was made by me (Welliegs hopefully soon to be TheGinger1) and thanks to Comex for the DFU idea

Please request if you want different ones (i only uploaded one at the moment to see how many people were interested)

Video coming soon!

Seems legit man, but I will be interested to see how many will test and confirm it. I guess I could test it on my iPod for the sake of confirming for others. Although I do have a lot of apps and shizt that I would hate to have to re download.

This could possibly be a lifesaver for me, as I'm holding out with my 3G until the new handset comes out. But over the past week, my home button has been incredibly wonky, and seems to have completely died today.

I'm currently downloading all of the components, but I'm slightly nervous to go ahead with it. If you could post a video, that would be awesome! If so, any idea when that would be up?

Also, just to check, I have to independently download the sn0wbreeze and ireb programs, correct?

Thanks again!

I threw caution to the wind tonight and tried it anyway. Everything seemed to go smoothly, until I got to the green screen. I simply clicked restore on itunes, which restored to the factory settings, not the jailbroken state. What was I supposed to do instead? So, I've since restored my phone to my backup, and am going to try again in the am. ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated, as it seems like everything worked with the software, it was simply me that was the problem.

I'll do the video this week! Basically all you have to do is again hold shift when your restoring to your jailbroken firmware(it should be on your desktop and restore to that)
Thanks for the advice I'll update it with the specific sn0wbreeze this week also
Cheers mate!

Of course, i knew I was missing something. I tried it again this morning, and, while I'm currently loading my old data onto my phone, I can confirm that Cydia is on my phone. Thanks a million!

**Data finished loading and set up activator via Cydia. Everything works perfectly (minus ipod controls via new homebutton method). Broken homebutton now irrelevant!**
