Also a video:

If you're already tethered on 5.1.1

This is even more simple than the other way so if you have already tethered your iDevice this will save you lot of time and you won't have to restore and all that Smile

To untethered your iDevice you just need to enter Cydia and download something called Rocky Racoon 5.1.1

Step 1: Open Cydia.

Step 2: Search for Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 Untether and install.

Step 3: Reboot your device and verify that you can reboot without having to perform a tethered boot.

ye suppose i might not, my mate is running a 5.1 tethered JB, does he need to fully restore before updating?

Yes he can make a backup on iCloud for photos and all that stuff, for Cydia things he need to download something called AptBackup make a backup. After all that he can upgrade to 5.1.1, jailbreak and download AptBackup again and recover everything. Smile

It's a tutorial on how to jailbreak (mod) an iDevice. Next time if you have an issue on why your thread was moved/closed, please PM me. Smile

So I could just tether my device and then do the Cydia things to make it a whole lot easier?
